Harold Fry's Unexpected Journey
When Rachel Joyce's acclaimed story about a retiree's travels was adapted into a 2023 film, it included a few charming musical numbers by Sam Lee. In recent months, singer-songwriter Passenger created the musical compositions for the theatrical version, which will transfer to London's theatre district in the new year. This recording of song renditions, titled One for the Road – with extra songs that didn't make the theatrical show and a collaboration from actor Jack Wolfe, who played the storytelling character – is ready to view digitally.
Alice's Tea Party
ZooNation is presenting this holiday tale a contemporary twist in the coming months, with their production at the famous venue. Looking back ten years, the same organization reimagined Alice's Adventures in Wonderland with this Royal Ballet commission. Available from this streaming service.
The Hedda Adaptation
Tanika Gupta transfers Ibsen's play from historical Oslo to post-war England and changes the main character into an ex-actress, in a reimagining inspired by the experiences of acclaimed performer Merle Oberon. The director leads Pearl Chanda in the world premiere at the Orange Tree in the London borough. Streaming 25-28 November.
Moments of Grace with Aurélie Dupont
French film-maker Cédric Klapisch is best known for his often romantic comedies – but he also has a passion for dance. His 2022 drama titled En Corps starred ballerina this talented woman, whose mentor Aurélie Dupont, the star performer transitioned to dance director at Paris Opera, is featured through amazing dance footage in Klapisch's 2010 documentary, streaming through MarqueeTV.
The Property Drama
An intense performance from Adeel Akhtar powers this filmmaker's contemporary stage production, which will be available on the digital platform on 12 November. That night, to celebrate Captioning Awareness Week and 25 years of the inclusion-focused group the company, there's a subtitled online event with interactive discussion for viewers. British Sign Language, audio-described and standard formats of the production are available.
